Join us for Sunday Lunch
Sunday Lunch.
Each week we serve a traditional but varied Sunday lunch menu.
Our starters include prawns and avocado pear salad, homemade chicken liver pate with Cumberland sauce or Kinsale smoked salmon. Follow this up with our tradional roast rib of Irish beef with all the trimmings, or go for something slightly different – Cumberland sausages in a red wine and onion casserole or grilled filet of fresh hadoch with two homemade sauces.
To finish, our desserts have been praised by guides and food writers like Paolo Tullio, so treat yourself to one of our steamed sponges with custard, a Knickerbocker Glory or a chocaolate and orange mousse.
Each Sunday kids eat for €7.50, and you will be hard pressed to spend more than €20 on three courses. We hope to see you soon.
We have been recommended three years running, here is an bit of the review by editor Gerard Carthy.
"Over the last few years food has been driven by fashion as much as anything. John and Martha have produced a menu at odds with that, but with John being a great pastry chef, and Martha having a great touch with fish, they have raised some old reliable to a very high standard indeed. This is one of the best meals I have had this year and I heartily recommend you give them a try if you are in this neck of the woods. Fabulous food."
Paolo Tullio recently paid us a visit, here is an excerpt from his review.
"
Our starters arrived and I have to say Gerard's plate looked very good. Unusually, the white and black puddings had been sliced lengthways instead of across, so it looked nothing like a breakfast plate. The breaded poached egg oozed lovely soft yolk over the puddings, making a delicious sauce. It's a neat trick, breading and deep-frying a poached egg -- it takes a lot of practice eggs until you get the knack of it. "
